Harvard Professor and behavioral scientist, Julia Minson will discuss key ideas from her new book, How to Disagree Better. Based on decades of rigorous research, the book offers practical tools to help people discuss opposing views with authenticity, engagement, and care. How to Disagree Better is a must-read for anyone who understands the necessity of robust disagreement for our society, our businesses, and our families and yet does not want to have a life filled with misunderstanding and conflict. Research offers us a better way to disagree, and Julia distills it into clear frameworks and actionable tools.
Join us for a values‑focused conversation about how we understand elections. How we talk about elections often jumps straight to facts, policies, or headlines—but underneath every reaction is a set of values that shape how we see the world. This gathering offers a different kind of conversation: one that starts with our honest first impressions and leads us toward the deeper principles that guide us. Together, we’ll explore our initial reactions to a current elections bill and the Braver Angels Trustworthy Elections Report—not to debate them, but to notice what those reactions reveal about what matters to us. From there, we’ll work with a shared list of values, reflect on how they influence our views, and listen to the values that guide others in the room. Through small‑group conversations and a guided perspective‑taking exercise, participants will practice seeing the human side of differing viewpoints and learn how values can make disagreement more navigable and more grounded in trust. This event is open to anyone—whether you follow elections closely or tend to tune them out. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to reflect. Event Details Date: Wednesday, March 25th, 2026 Time: 6:30–8:30 PM MT
We are excited to invite you to our upcoming event, "Connecting Conversation: A Discussion on Immigration." Join us for a nonpartisan community conversation about one of the most complex and important issues facing our country and our local Denver community. At this event, we'll explore some of the most pressing questions surrounding immigration today: What are your primary hopes and concerns regarding immigration, and how have they been shaped by your personal experiences or community? How does the current immigration system impact our society, both economically and culturally, from your perspective? How can we balance the needs of national security and the rule of law with our values as a nation of immigrants and humanitarian principles? In what ways can we find common ground on policy solutions despite the deep political divisions surrounding this topic? Rooted in Braver Angels' ethos of respectful, civil discourse, this event aims to foster a meaningful and respectful conversation on immigration and how we communicate across the political divide. Through small-group discussions, you'll have the opportunity to share your perspective and listen to others in a safe and structured environment. Join us and be a part of the effort to depolarize our country and community. *Tickets are Free, Donations Help Use promo code BRAVER during registration to get a free ticket. Family relationships are becoming casualties of our toxic political environment. Family members are having nasty political arguments, avoiding each other, or even cutting off lifetime relationships. If you want to preserve important family bonds while still being true to your values and political beliefs, this workshop will offer you: Insight into why family differences over politics are uniquely challenging; Recognition of common roles that family members play in political conversations (for example, the Gladiator, the Defender, and the Sniper); Strategies and skills for handling family political differences in a constructive way.
Defining & Measuring the Success of a U.S. President is a nonpartisan community workshop designed to explore how we evaluate presidential leadership. Through an interactive discussion, participants will analyze key success measures—economic performance, foreign policy, social progress, crisis management, and more—while considering both objective data and public perception. The event will begin with an overview of survey results, followed by small-group discussions where attendees will debate key criteria and propose specific benchmarks for success. Groups will then reconvene to share insights and reflect on different perspectives. Rooted in Braver Angels’ ethos of civil discourse, this event fosters meaningful, respectful conversations on leadership, governance, and the challenges of defining success in a divided political landscape.

Polarization can be driven by how we talk with like-minded people about those on the other side. Too often, we stereotype, dismiss, or ridicule our fellow citizens who support the other political party, its leaders, and its policies.
